Tony DeFazio Wins Reitzes Award

Tony DeFazio Tony DeFazio, a softball umpire with Delaware Umpires Association, was honored as the 2013 recipient of the Herm Reitzes Award for public service to sports.  The award was given by the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association in recognition of Tony’s many years of service in various sports throughout southern Delaware.  In addition to umpiring high school softball and men’s slow-pitch softball, Tony officiates high school soccer, both boys’ and girls’ and adult flag football in spring and fall.  In the fall and winter, he is the scoreboard operator and public address announcer at Cape Henlopen High School football games and girls’ basketball games.  In the spring and summer, Tony is the Umpire-in-Chief for girls’ travel softball tournaments all over the Delmarva Peninsula.  Tony is well-known and respected by players, coaches and fans of many sports throughout the region. Congratulations, Tony!
