Plate Umpire Tip

Whether it is an early morning game with dew still on the grass, or after a rain shower, sometimes we work games under wet conditions. When working behind the plate in wet field conditions, place a couple of ounces of “Stay Dry” in your ball bag. As a damp baseball (or softball) is taken out of play, put it in your ball bag with the “Stay Dry”. Between pitches, rotate the ball around in the compound. In a few minutes, the ball will be dry enough to use in the game. This keeps a dry ball in play and helps eliminate delays in replacing the baseballs.
